ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL——>The Umpire of God’s Peace

Wednesday (SEPT. 23rd)
Colossians 3:15 (KJV and GNB) “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. *The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.”

How do you think a professional sporting game would play out without a good umpire or referee? It would likely not be very orderly and much may not be achieved at the
end of the game. Many foul things would likely occur, while other right things may go unnoticed or unrecognized. It may ultimately end up a very frustrating and purposeless game. The role that an umpire plays in a game is the same role that the peace of God plays in our hearts.
One major secret to having great peace in life is following God’s ways, Isaiah 54:13. Follow God’s peace as you make your decisions in life. God has given us His Spirit to guide us into all truth, John 16:13. When we make the right decisions, there is a peace and joy that emboldens our spirits. On the contrary, when we head in the wrong direction, we are often disturbed in our spirits. It is like the Spirit of God begins to blow His whistle in our hearts, telling us to be alert and to ensure that we are proceeding along God’s way.
A conscience that is alive makes pleasing God a priority and also uses the word of God as the basis for determining what is right or wrong. Some believers deaden the voice of their conscience by constantly ignoring and going against what the Spirit of God is telling them not to do. So a time comes that even when the Spirit of God is speaking to them they can no longer hear His voice. This is how some believers shipwreck their faith, 1Timothy 1:19. Isaiah 66:1-2 tells us that God dwells with those who tremble at His Word. Trembling at God’s Word is about humbly respecting and promptly responding to God’s Word. As you continue to reverence God’s Word and God’s will for your life, you will experience God’s peace and blessings.

Faith Declaration: I have the Spirit of God in me and He is using God’s peace to guide me in all my decisions.

ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL—–>Stay Firmly in God’s Love (2)

Tuesday (SEPT. 22nd)
Matthew 24:12, 1John 2:15-17 “love of many shall wax cold. *Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

When the devil cannot use trials and tribulations against you, He will use temptations and lusts of the flesh to detract from your passion and love for God. He will seek to replace that love and passion you have for God with a love and passion for things of this world that are not pleasing to God. Know that no matter what the devil promises you, the last thing he has in mind is your best interest. The devil is out to destroy your soul while God wants to save it. In the same way the devil promised Jesus the kingdoms of this world and their glory if Jesus would fall down and worship him (the devil), he will also approach us with similar deceptive desires to entice our flesh. Jesus rightly cast the devil away and declared that God alone is to be worshipped, Matt.4:8-10. Do not worship the things of this world (the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life). Be wise, cast the thought away and continue to worship God alone. Do you know that being carnally minded separates us from the life of God, Rom.8:6-8? No matter how pleasurable and promising the lusts of the flesh may appear, they can never be compared to the privilege of being connected to God and experiencing the life and grace that He has in store for us. The lusts of the flesh are out to darken your understanding, make us alien to the life of God and blind the eyes of our hearts, Eph.4:17-18. Despite the increase of iniquity around us, as we remain watchful and continue to increase in our love for God, we will overcome.

Prayer Focus: Receive God’s grace today to remain firm in His love and to keep resisting and overcoming the lusts of this world.

ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL——>Stay Firmly in God’s Love (1)

Monday (SEPT. 21st)
Jude 1:21, Ephesians 3:17-19 “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. *That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.”

The devil will do everything to take you out of the love of God. He will tell you things like ‘if God loves you why should He allow you to go through what you are going
through’? If you are not rooted and grounded in God’s love, your faith in God will become shaky in such times. What are you supposed to do in such times?
See such a time as an opportunity for you to honour God with your faith. That test of your faith is an opportunity for you to be more steadfast in your faith; your faith in God’s love for you. Have faith in God’s love. Have hope because of God’s great love for you. Romans 5:5 says; and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Allow the Holy Spirit pour God’s love into your heart. Instead of coming out of God’s love you will get more rooted in His love and He will reveal more dimensions (the length, breadth, depth and height) of His love to you. Child of God, never give up on God’s love. In those very moments when you are tempted to doubt God’s love for you, you can reach out to God and He will take you even deeper in His love. Know that God will surely manifest the saving power of His love and deliver you out of that situation. As you make up your mind that nothing will separate you from the love of God (Rom.8:35-39) God will strengthen you, He will manifest the power of His love in your life and will take you deeper in His love.

Prayer Focus: Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you and to take you deeper in God’s love. Ask Him to reveal more dimensions of God’s love and power to you.

ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL—–>Loving God

Sunday (SEPT. 20th)
Mark 12:30, 1John 4:19, Colossians 3:17 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. *We love him, because he first loved us. *And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

It is possible to love God with your heart, soul, mind and strength when you understand how great His love for you is. Our Christian Life is a loving relationship with God
that produces great fruits both now and in eternity. It is our understanding of God’s love for us that fuels our loving relationship with Him. The more we understand
how much love and mercy God has shown us in Christ, the more we will express our love to Him.
Child of God, keep receiving God’s love and keep expressing your love for Him. Keep meditating on how much God loves you. As you do this, loving God with all of your being will just flow naturally. Worship is a good avenue for you to do this. In worship you can both receive God’s love and express your love for God to Him. Worship God with your entire being. Let your worship to God be an expression of your understanding of His
great love for you.
Another way that we can love God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength is by doing everything we do as worship and honour unto God. We actually owe God our entire lives. We won’t be alive today and completely saved from sin and destruction if it were not for the love and grace that God showed us in Christ. All God wants from us in return is to love and worship Him with our lives. Jesus said if we love Him we would keep His commandments, John 14:15. We do this by following His ways. From your thoughts to your words (Psalm 19:14) to everything you do, love and honour God for His great love for you.

Prayer Focus: Worship God for His great love for you and declare unto Him that your life belongs to Him. Receive His grace to love and honour Him in all that you do.

ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL——->Faith in the Power of God’s Love

Saturday (SEPT. 19th)
Ephesians 2:8, 1John 4:16, Romans 8:31-32 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: *And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. *What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”

Often times when God appeared to people, He would instruct them to ‘fear not’ because fear does not accompany love. If a very powerful person who loves you
greatly comes around, instead of being afraid you will likely be full of faith and confidence, right? That is how God wants us to feel each and every moment of our lives.
The love that caused God our Father to sacrifice Jesus for us also causes Him to freely and abundantly give us every other thing that we need from Him. Think about it. His love for you is so strong and His grace available to you is so abundant. Everything Jesus
went through is a sign of how much God loves you and how much He is willing to manifest His mighty saving power in your life.
There is mighty saving power in God’s abundant grace and great love for you; power to save you both from sin and from all circumstances. In our second text above, John said that ‘they have known and believed the love God has for them.’ So many believers do not know the extent of the love that God has for them and from those who know it, some do not really believe it. So many believers still place limits on the power and extent of God’s love towards them. Romans 5:8-10 says, if when we were sinners God exemplified His love by causing Christ to die for us, now that we are His children He will save us even much more by Christ’s life. Faith is the channel through which the power of God’s abundant love and grace flows into our lives. If you will believe, Child of God, you will see the glory of God in your life.

Prayer Focus: Meditate and thank God for the power of His great love towards you. Pray about any issue that you want God to manifest His saving power in.

ABOVE ONLY DEVOTIONAL—–>Salvation By Love

Friday (SEPT. 18th)
John 15:13, John 3:16-17 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. *For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Every sincere human being acknowledges the nature of sin that we embody and how powerless we are to overcome it. As a result, there is a void and a sense of separation from God that accompanies this inability for self redemption. Every man in this state also acknowledges that what we deserve is hatred, anger and destruction from God. Instead, God chooses to love man and relentlessly pursue man; to save him and not to
destroy him.
In His infinite mercy, God lovingly chose to embody flesh and to suffer and to die; just to save man. God did this through Jesus. God did not send Jesus to condemn the world. He sent Jesus so that the world through Him might be saved. In the Good News Bible, Romans 3:23-24 says, everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence. But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free. The free gift of salvation and peace with God is received simply by believing in Jesus. When any man or woman chooses to believe in Jesus, Jesus comes into their hearts and begins to live His life in them and reveal more and more of God’s love and life to them. No man who acknowledges his helpless state without God and hears this love message should opt to ignore such love and salvation. If you haven’t received this love and salvation freely offered to you by God, you can do it right now. If you know someone who needs this love and salvation, please share this message with them right now.

Prayer Focus: Meditate on God’s great love for you and thank Him for sending Jesus to save you, live in you and give you a relationship with Himself.
