Colossians 3:15 (KJV and GNB) “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. *The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.”
How do you think a professional sporting game would play out without a good umpire or referee? It would likely not be very orderly and much may not be achieved at the
end of the game. Many foul things would likely occur, while other right things may go unnoticed or unrecognized. It may ultimately end up a very frustrating and purposeless game. The role that an umpire plays in a game is the same role that the peace of God plays in our hearts.
One major secret to having great peace in life is following God’s ways, Isaiah 54:13. Follow God’s peace as you make your decisions in life. God has given us His Spirit to guide us into all truth, John 16:13. When we make the right decisions, there is a peace and joy that emboldens our spirits. On the contrary, when we head in the wrong direction, we are often disturbed in our spirits. It is like the Spirit of God begins to blow His whistle in our hearts, telling us to be alert and to ensure that we are proceeding along God’s way.
A conscience that is alive makes pleasing God a priority and also uses the word of God as the basis for determining what is right or wrong. Some believers deaden the voice of their conscience by constantly ignoring and going against what the Spirit of God is telling them not to do. So a time comes that even when the Spirit of God is speaking to them they can no longer hear His voice. This is how some believers shipwreck their faith, 1Timothy 1:19. Isaiah 66:1-2 tells us that God dwells with those who tremble at His Word. Trembling at God’s Word is about humbly respecting and promptly responding to God’s Word. As you continue to reverence God’s Word and God’s will for your life, you will experience God’s peace and blessings.
Faith Declaration: I have the Spirit of God in me and He is using God’s peace to guide me in all my decisions.
